2016 is here and running.

As I listen to the best of Peter, Paul & Mary after decades of abstinence from their messages, I feel melancholy. When I was a youth during the time their songs were popular, I was filled with hope and certainty. I could curl up in the soft bosom of my mom and the strong arms of my dad to receive confirmation that all was well. I was under my parents’ protection and garnered strength from their idealism. Today, I no longer can reach out to them for comfort. They have long left this realm.

It occurs to me that Peter, Paul & Mary sang the same songs we have sung for millennia. Nothing has changed—or has it? Dare I hope that we are in a different time? Dare I hope that things have changed? Will I see things manifest that Peter, Paul & Mary and my parents talked about? Is the insanity around us waking up the masses? Can we move to the streets in dance rather than in war?

It is time. 2016 is here and running.

I often long for that safe and beautiful time of innocence when we were young. It would be so much easier some days to give up and say that the world has become too much to bear. But then I hear a song, read inspiring words, capture a baby smiling, and I am reminded that there is so much love in the world. We are all the messengers of love. When the love messages seem to be weakest is when we need to speak loudest. So let's do this! The smallest things do make a difference!
Sadly, Mary Travers from the famous group PPM passed on several years ago. Happily, I can hear her voice and the love message PPM sang about any time I want to be reminded that we're all in this together. Let's not give up on the very thing we were all born to do! Be love in every moment even when, especially when, it appears to be lost
